Master John Lambert began his journey in the Martial Arts in 1956 as a student of Sensei Eugene Fields in the art of Judo. It was under his tutelage that he developed his love of martial arts. It was Sensei Fields who planted the seeds of awareness, humility, and etiquette in his student, and Judo provided a perspective of balance and flow through throwing (Shuai) and grappling (Na). Later he would find that Tae Kwon Do would provide another perspective of the martial arts and would study under Grand Master Kyungwon Ahn, and then Master William Scott Sr., from these experiences he developed kicking (Ti) and striking (Da) skills. He then would embark on a brief trek into the Northern Chinese martial art of Tien Shen Pai, which would provide the basis for his paradigm shift toward the Southern Chinese Martial Arts, and specifically Wing Chun.
On October 16, 2001, due to a chance of fate, he found the Ving Tsun Museum (VTM) and Shaolin Kung Fu. He subsequently met his Sifu, Grand Master Benny Meng and began his study in the Hong Kong system of Ip Man Ving Tsun Kung Fu. In November of 2001 he was introduced to the Wing Chun Martial Art of Hung Fa Yi , under Grand Master Garrett Gee (Chu King Hung).
On November 16, 2003 he performed his Bai Si under Sifu Benny Meng and became his Disciple.
On January 22, 2005 under the tutelage of his Sifu, GrandMaster Benny Meng, he began his current and lifelong commitment as a Sifu and began teaching private students. On September 19, 2007 he opened Meng’s Martial Arts of Cincinnati and was then certified, by his Sifu, as an official Meng’s Martial Arts school operator and Instructor. The school is Certified By:
Grand Master Benny Meng presented Master Lambert with the Certifications listed above for his school As the Head Instructor of Meng’s Martial Arts of Cincinnati he teaches; Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu, Qi Gong, and San Da. In April of 2009 he began a second journey into Shaolin Kung Fu in the art of Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun Pai, under Grand Master Benny Meng (Muung Hing Fung) and the Inheritor of the system Grand Master Kenneth Lin (Lin Xiang Fuk). On September 18, 2011 He was promoted to Suhu and 1st Level Instructor in the art of Shaolin Hek Ki Boen under the direct instruction of his Suhu, Benny Meng (Muung Hing Fung) and his Su Kong, Kenneth Lin (Lin Xiang Fuk). Suhu John Lambert performed a Bai Si and became a Disciple of Suhu Muung Hing Fung and Su Kong Lin Xiang Fuk in the lineage of Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun Paai.
On December 8, 2011 Sifu Lambert was promoted to Master as a 5th Degree Black Sash in Shaolin Wing Chun and assigned the name of “Yi Ura Han” “Righteous Man, Who keeps his Word”. On December 8, 2013 Grand Master Benny Meng officially began his own organization the “World Shaolin Wing Chun Martial Arts Federation” using the teaching methodologies that he had developed and named “Hung Lung Sin Fu Faat Mun Paai” 空 龍 善 虎 法 門 派. In June of 2014 Master Lambert Journeyed to China and trained in the skills of Chi Sau. After the completion of the training he received his certification from Grand Master Benny Meng. Master Lambert went to Song Shen Mountain, in the province of Hunan, and trained in the Shaolin Temple. He received instruction in the internal art of Ba Duan Jin and Muscle and Tendon Changing. .

On July 13, 2019 Master Lambert was inducted into the Ving Tsun Museum Hall of Fame and was honored by the installation of his statue.
